Sri Lanka Insurance Life and Sri Lanka Insurance General, in collaboration with the National Disaster Relief Services Centre (NDRSC), extended vital assistance to 1,000 families affected by the recent Cyclone Ditwah, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to standing with communities during times of crisis.
The relief initiative was carried out in two phases on 30 November and 2 December 2025, ensuring timely and effective support to families impacted by the severe weather conditions. Dry ration packs were distributed through the NDRSC to affected households within the Maharagama Urban Council and the Divulapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha areas, enabling swift and efficient delivery of essential supplies.
Both distribution programmes were conducted with the participation of local authorities, alongside the management teams of Sri Lanka Insurance Life and Sri Lanka Insurance General, further strengthening the organisation’s close partnership with the communities it serves.
Commenting on the initiative, Chairman of Sri Lanka Insurance, Mr. Nusith Kumaaratunga, stated,

In addition to the relief programme, Sri Lanka Insurance implemented extended operating hours at selected Sri Lanka Insurance General branches in flood-affected areas to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. Claims teams, customer care officers, and branch staff worked beyond regular hours to provide prompt assistance to policyholders impacted by the adverse weather conditions.
