flydubai has announced major strategic developments aimed at supporting its long-term growth and enhancing the passenger experience, including a significant fleet expansion and a new inflight connectivity partnership.
The airline has signed a landmark agreement to purchase 150 Airbus A321neo aircraft, marking flydubai’s first-ever order with Airbus. In parallel, it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, reinforcing its long-standing partnership with Boeing while maintaining flexibility in future fleet planning.
In a further boost to customer experience, flydubai confirmed Starlink as its new inflight connectivity partner. The high-speed, low-latency satellite broadband service will be rolled out across the airline’s fleet, allowing passengers to enjoy seamless streaming, communication, and internet access while onboard. Installation of the system is scheduled to begin in 2026.
Commenting on the announcement, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, said the agreement for the A321neo aircraft represents a major milestone in the airline’s journey. He noted that the deal supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
He added that the new aircraft will diversify flydubai’s narrow-body fleet, strengthen long-term expansion plans, and support the development of Dubai World Central, which is set to become one of the world’s largest airports. The A321neos will play a key role in the next phase of network expansion, helping the airline meet growing demand across its markets.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said the partnership with Starlink marks a significant step in enhancing the travel experience. He emphasized that reliable, high-speed connectivity has become essential for modern travellers and that the introduction of Starlink technology will enable flydubai to meet evolving customer expectations across its expanding network.
These strategic announcements underscore flydubai’s continued focus on innovation, operational efficiency, and customer-centric growth, as the airline strengthens its position in the global aviation industry.
