The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) recently hosted a networking session at its Colombo headquarters, designed to equip new and aspiring exporters with the knowledge and connections needed to succeed in international markets.
The session attracted a large group of entrepreneurs preparing to enter the export sector, providing them with valuable insights from experienced industry professionals. Discussions focused on key areas such as participation in international trade fairs, export market research, building trust with international buyers, effective communication strategies, and meeting global quality standards.
Addressing the participants, EDB Chairman and CEO Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe emphasized the Board’s commitment to making 2026 a more prosperous year for exporters.
Several industry experts shared their experiences and guidance, including Mr. Samantha Thamel, Managing Director of Rancrisp Marketing; Mr. Christopher Fernando, Executive Director of Malwatte Valley Plantations; Dr. Upali Ranasinghe, Chairman of C. R. Exports; Mr. Udayakantha Wickramasinghe, aquatic export consultant; and Mr. Tyrell Delukshan Fernando, Managing Director of the People’s Organization for Development of Import & Export (PODIE).
The session also included participation from EDB officials such as Dr. Sanjeewa Ratnasekara, Director of the Trade Information and Trade Facilitation Division, highlighting the Board’s hands-on approach in supporting Sri Lanka’s export community.
